CE3 Webinar: Economic Boom and Bust: Lessons from the Frontline of Coal and Shale (12/15)

June 26, 2017

In many rural communities, extraction-based industries have historically been a cornerstone of the local economy. While communities have benefited from the economic boost, they have also faced sizable and costly impacts. On Dec. 9, 2015, the Voinovich School hosted a public webinar to address the complexities faced by communities in the middle of the shale boom, as well as those transitioning from coal or other resource-dependent economies. The webinar was sponsored by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), the Ohio Mid-Eastern Government Association, and the Buckeye Hills-Hocking Valley Regional Development District, as part of the Great Lakes Regional Training Initiative.
