Kevin Funk is a Ph.D. Student in Xiao Chen’s lab at Ohio University studying the role of mitochondria in the aging process using genetically modified mice with extended lifespans. He also has been a full-time technician in the Kopchick laboratory for eight years studying the role of growth hormone in obesity and diabetes, and he completed a master’s degree in zoology from University of Hawaii in 2005.

Aided by experience in multiple areas of biology, he has developed new assays, presented research at international conferences, taught classes at local community colleges, and hosted mitochondrial research workshops at Ohio University.
