Second Year Students

Akoeda John  

John earned his undergrad degree at the University of Education Winneba, Ghana, BA in Political Science and Economics Education, and master’s degree at the University of Ghana, Legon. His MPhil was in Political Science with a research Area in International Relations, his research area was in the Politics of Trade Disputes in the fourth Republic: The case of Ghana and Nigeria. Currently, he is with the Center for International Studies (African Studies) and his research interest is in dealing with the Proliferation of Immigrant Street beggars in Ghana: A case study of Accra.

Amaadi Louisa  

Louisa is a Ghanaian who hails from Aburi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She has a BA in Strategic Communications from the African University College of Communications in Ghana. Presently, she is presently pursuing a master's degree in African Studies at Ohio University.  

Her research would be centered on the role of feminism in creating an alternative culture for the African woman.

Amie Bah

Bah Amie  

Amie is a graduate of the University of The Gambia, where she obtained a BA in Development studies.   

Amie also worked in civil society with different organizations key among which is Fulbe Africa. Her research interest revolves around government, civic-engagement, and development. She is interested in looking at how governments utilize social media and instant messaging as part of their e-government initiatives.

Bah Umar Alpha

Alpha Bah   

Umaru Alpha Bah, comes from Sierra Leone. He studies his undergraduate studies in Social Work at Fourah Bay College the University of Sierra Leone. He was born in Freetown the capital city of Sierra Leone. He is currently studying his MA in African Studies and is interested in researching about the long-term health problems of COVID-19 in Sierra Leone.

Chidiebere Chukwu Gerard   

 Chukwu is from Enugu, Nigeria and proudly Igbo. He acquired a B.Sc. in Political Science from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and currently pursuing an M.A. Degree in African Studies at Ohio University. He is understudying how the actions and inactions of political actors at global and local levels affect the common man. He is a photographer and graphic designer.

Donkoh Jennifer Ayewa

Donkor Jennifer Ayewa Dankwaa   

Jennifer is a Ghanaian, an Asante who hails from Kumasi. She has a BA in French and Linguistics and an MA in Translation. Most of her career has been with various civil society organizations working in both programs and communication capacities. She also has an extensive language teaching experience in French, English as a Foreign Language and Akan language. She enjoys article writing, blogging and makeup artistry and would like to center her research on African women's rights and agency

Gyan Phyllis Ang-e-mwin  

Phyllis is from Chaang in the Upper West Region of Ghana. She had her bachelor’s degree in Geography and Resource Development at the University of Ghana Legon. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in African Studies at Ohio University. Her research interest is in the use of Geoinformation Technology in solving the problem of access to health care. (Equitable distribution of health care resources in Africa).

Jallow Teslima

Jallow Teslima   

Teslima is an inspiring activist and a community development devotee with over 10 years of experience working with communities in developing life transforming self-led programs having lasting impacts in their lives. He is a seasoned grant writer with a proven record of accomplishment in grant writing and management. Teslima is a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumnus, a U.S Department of State funded program for young African Leaders. He has a strong passion for volunteerism and impacting social change in local communities. His research is on “studying the historical and contemporary global importance and finding practical solutions for complex social development issues in Africa.”  

 

 

 

 

Mohammed Kamara Sallieu

Kamara Mohammed Sallieu     

Kamara was born in Matotoka town, Northern province of Sierra Leone.  

 He studied at the university of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay college for a diploma in Peace and Conflict studies with a distinction and continue with a bachelor’s degree in History and Sociology with Division one. He would like his research paper to be centered on the causes of (Corruption and Government of Sierra Leone).

Magdalene is from the Volta region of Ghana and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology with Psychology from the University of Ghana. Her research interest is to assess the implementation of sustainable development goal (3) on the well-being of the African child: With Ghana as a case study.

Angelah is a native of Kenya. She earned her bachelor’s in mass communication-Public Relations from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya. She has working experience in public relations handling clients in sectors like agriculture, sport, finance, education, and development. Her research includes Development Communication with a bias in environmental sustinability.

Joshua Osondu

Joshua hails from Ghana. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. His research interest studies “The impact of Traditional Laws on modern practices of slavery in Africa”.
