JP Rhea

Assistant Professor, Area Chair of Graphic Design

JP Rhea previously taught at East Central University, the Art Institute of Atlanta, and the Paducah School of Art and Design and freelanced as an Art Director and Graphic Designer. He has worked as the Sr. Web Designer for Macy’s corporate advertising in Atlanta, GA. Previously he worked as a Sr. Creative Consultant for C-bridge.com, a top B2B consultant agency based in Boston, MA, and as the Head of Creative/Art Director for Webstakes.com in NYC. He spent four years working in New York City as a digital illustrator, graphic designer, and art director before making Atlanta his home for over a decade.

Since leaving Atlanta, Rhea returned to Southern Illinois University Carbondale and received his M.F.A. in Mass Communications and Media Arts. This is in addition to his B.A. in Cinema and Photography and his A.A. in Mass Communication. Altogether he has over two decades of creative experience in both the professional and educational communities.

As a College Professor, Media Artist, and Creative Consultant, Rhea's strengths include problem-solving, project organization, and collaborative leadership through the creative process of both fine art and professional projects.

His Specialties and Interests Include: Teaching/Classroom Education, Experiential Narratives, Screenwriting, Multimedia/Multidisciplinary Gallery Installation, Digital Imaging and Photography, Art Direction, Print and Web Design, Digital Animation, Advertising/Marketing, Creative Project Management, 3-D/Virtual Environments, and 3-D Printing.
