The Office of the Vice President (VPSA) completed an external review of DOSA and took initial steps toward implementing key recommendations. These included defining goals for the strategic plan; creating a more meaningful, efficient and effective organizational structure; strengthening partnerships with academics and faculty; and reorganizing leadership team meetings and structures.
A new leadership position was established to focus on implementing the strategic plan and providing direction related to divisional assessment needs. Learn more about year one progress on the strategic plan.
Dr. Jason Pina, the Vice President for Student Affairs, received the 2019 OCPA Gerald L. Saddlemire Mentor Award at the January OCPA conference. Pina also served as the 2019 NASPA Annual Conference Chair and is currently serving as the chair for the 2020 Conference.
VPSA centralized division marketing staff into a single unit, forming the Student Affairs Communication and Marketing (SACM) team. This transition included the revision of seven existing positions and the creation of one new position.
Throughout 2018-19, SACM implemented new organization and project management systems and integrated marketing best practices and strategies into division initiatives, programs and event promotions. They also shepherded the migration of 14 division websites and advised on three other websites in partnership with OIT.
SACM produced 1,232 design projects, published 103 news articles, compiled 48 newsletters, completed 141 photography projects and 16 video projects and drafted program scripts for five major events. SACM also absorbed and maintained 47 division social media accounts.
