An Interview with New WellWorks Staff Member: Annie Laurie Cadmus
Welcome to the WellWorks team, Annie Laurie! How are you feeling about this transition?
I love a new adventure and I have a feeling WellWorks will deliver! As I transition from my position as Director of Sustainability at Ohio University to the Engagement and Marketing Coordinator for WellWorks, I have been met with dozens of colleagues who excitedly tell me about their positive experiences with the WellWorks program. What a wonderful way to begin a new job! The personal wellness journey that each member or employee has is special and WellWorks understands that.
What special skills do you feel you bring to this role?
My previous work experiences in higher education and the non-profit sector moved me from South Carolina to Vermont to Illinois before landing in Ohio. These past experiences allowed me to refine skills in community outreach, public speaking, innovative marketing and event planning.
What will you be doing at WellWorks?
In this new role, I will be assisting the WellWorks team with marketing and communication and helping to identify and employ strategies to support the interests of WellWorks’ members, OHIO employees, student staff and the Athens community. I am especially looking forward to honing my skills in marketing, event planning and community outreach as they relate to wellness. I look forward to working with all of our members and employees.
What do you think about the job so far?
The biggest impression I am left with is "joy." The members using the facility, the staff in Grover Center, our community partners: everyone is joyful. I am genuinely enjoying working with and among people who are happy to be on a wellness journey and enjoy helping others find their own journey. What an inspirational environment to work in!
What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work?
My favorite weekend activity is simply hanging out with my daughter, Lily Anne, and dog, Taja. Whether I’m jogging with them on the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway or just playing on the living room floor, they (and my husband, of course) are my greatest source of entertainment these days!
