WellWorks Music Equipment Lending Program

Pilot Program Terms, January 2019

WellWorks recognizes the beneficial role that music may play in motivating a member to enhance their time in our facility. We are also sensitive to the need to maintain the accessibility of our facility for those who may experience auditory overstimulation and, therefore, choose not to broadcast music over a shared speaker.

In an effort to support the wellness goals of all of our members, we have launched the Music Equipment Lending Program. This program is in Pilot Phase beginning January 2019. We will utilize this time to finalize terms and conditions of the program. We will use this pilot phase to determine program popularity, identify any roadblocks and streamline the process. WellWorks reserves the right to halt or cancel this program at any time due to unforeseen issues. The terms and conditions of this pilot program are provided below. WellWorks reserves the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Pre-loaded music players and headphones are available for use by members only.
  • There is no charge for members to utilize this service.
  • The devices may not leave the WellWorks fitness center, unless the member is accompanied by a Personal Trainer during a session.
  • The devices will be available for loan in 60-minute increments.
  • The devices are available for loan on a first come-first served basis until all charged devices are in use.
    • At this time, WellWorks does not have a protocol for managing wait lists and, therefore, the member is encouraged to periodically check back at the front desk for availability.
  • To borrow a device, a member must:
    • Have checked-in using their WellWorks ID at the front desk.
    • Ask the Wellness Specialist at the front desk to borrow a music player/headphone set.
    • Provide a personal item of significant value (ideally, a phone or keys). Please note that we cannot accept credit cards, cash, wallets, or checkbooks. WellWorks will safely store your personal items while you are borrowing the devices.
    • Sign-out the devices on our Log Sheet.
    • Upon the return of the devices, we will return your personal belongings.
      • If a device is not returned, we will place a hold on your account until they are returned.
  • So as to protect our members from harmful chemicals commonly found in cleaning products, all devices will be cleaned between each use using a natural cleaner. They will then be rinsed and dried by hand with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Each of the five available devices has nearly 2,000 songs in 10 different categories pre-loaded onto them. Additionally, the devices have radio connectivity. At this time, we cannot accept requests for additional music to be added.
  • The music player was chosen because of its small size and weight. Additionally, it was favored because of its ability to conveniently clip onto an individual’s clothing. To use the music player, a user can scroll through the main menu to: be connected to a randomized playlist in the “Music” category; connect to any desired radio station in the “Radio” category, or; choose a particular genre of music by selecting the “Folder” category and then choosing “External Card.”

The bone conduction headphones were chosen because they were deemed the safest, most sanitary and sweat resistant option. To use the headphones, the user must ensure that the cord is plugged into the music device and the blue light is on (press the power button until the blue light appears). The pads of the headphones are placed on the cheekbones, not in the ears. This leaves the ears open to be able to safely respond to environmental noises.
