Updates to WellWorks Membership Announced

WellWorks at Ohio University will be adjusting our membership packages as of July 1, 2019. This change will impact members currently on an Individual Annual Membership, a Family Membership or those receiving a Senior Citizen Discount.

The decision to adjust our membership options and pricing was made in an effort to better serve our customers. An overview of some of the factors which fueled this decision include:

  • In 2018, WellWorks members increased their visits to our facility by 10%, requiring additional maintenance and replacement of equipment.
  • In the past two years, WellWorks has increased its Group Fitness Class offerings by 33%, which requires additional equipment/facility maintenance and instructor payment.
  • WellWorks has not increased prices in ten years and, thus, needs to adjust for national economic trends and increased program costs.
  • Approximately $50,000 has been invested in the WellWorks facilities in the past two years, with an additional $30,000+ planned for the coming year.

Any membership price currently in place will be honored until its expiration date, at which time, the new membership options will take place. Therefore, if a membership expires before July 1, 2019, you can renew for up to one year under the current membership structure. If your current membership expires on or after July 1, 2019, you can choose from one of our other membership options (Monthly, 4-Month or Annual). New memberships initiated before July 1, 2019 will be created under the current structure. After July 1, 2019, any new membership will be created under the new membership structure.
