OHIO Excursions: An Alumni Adventure through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime on a trip curated specifically for OHIO alumni! Inspired by the Ohio University Ecology of Leadership Study Away undergraduate program, this unforgettable journey takes you through the stunning landscapes of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, where you’ll marvel at the famous Mammoth Hot Springs, hunt for bison herds, and take in the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. And that’s just day one!

Throughout the week, you’ll get to explore the geothermal wonders of the Lower Loop, including the iconic Old Faithful geyser, before heading to the majestic Grand Tetons. In the Tetons, you’ll visit the Craig Thomas Discovery Center, hike to a waterfall at Jenny Lake, and enjoy breathtaking views from the Chapel of the Transfiguration.

Enjoy dinner alongside Ohio University students on the Ecology of Leadership study away program, take a scenic float trip down the Snake River, and explore the charming town of Jackson with its incredible dining and sights, including the iconic T Moulton Barn. Led by expert guide Andrew Cash, of Head of the Class Tours (opens in a new window), this adventure is packed with natural beauty, thrilling activities, and the chance to create lasting memories with fellow Bobcats.   • Good to Know

    • Physical Activity: This program consists of extensive walking/hiking and/or standing activities in nature and at high altitudes.
    • Accommodations: Participants will stay in dormitory style housing on the Jackson Campus.

  • Upper Loop of Yellowstone National Park: explore the Upper Loop of Yellowstone National Park! Pass through the iconic Roosevelt Arch and check out the stunning Travertine Steps at Mammoth Springs. Search for majestic bison herds that call Yellowstone home, and see jaw-dropping view of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone!

  • Lower loop of Yellowstone National Park: Discover Yellowstone’s stunning hydrothermal activities.   • Grand Teton National Park: visit the Craig Thomas Discovery Center for an overview of Grand Teton National Park’s history and landscapes. Explore the Church of the Transfiguration, a charming chapel with one of the most stunning views in America. At Jenny Lake, take a boat ride across the lake and hike to Hidden Falls, where a scenic lunch awaits by the waterfall.

  • Teton Science School: Experience the unique educational opportunities at Teton Science Schools (TSS), a renowned institution nestled in the heart of northwest Wyoming and Idaho. Founded in 1967, TSS offers immersive outdoor learning experiences that connect students to the natural world and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
  • Snake River: Enjoy a leisurely guided float down the Snake River. Your river guide will point out local wildlife and scenic views.

Cost

The more people that travel, the cheaper it becomes for everybody!!

  • Cost per person for 20 travelers – $2750
  • Cost per person for 30 travelers – $2450
  • Cost per person for 40 travelers- $2250
  • Single’s Supplement – $800

*Discounts will be applied to final payment or refunded from initial payments in full.

Payment Schedule

  • Initial Deposit: $200 (paid upfront)
  • 1st Installment: May 4
  • 2nd Installment: June 4
  • 3rd (Final) Installment: July 4 (30 days before departure)

  • Airfare to Bozeman, MT and from Jackson Hole, WY
  • Meals not specifically included (lunches and dinners outside of group events)
  • Personal expenses (souvenirs, snacks, etc.)
  • Travel insurance (highly recommended)
  • Optional activities or excursions not listed in the itinerary
  • Alcoholic beverages during group dinners or at other times
  • Items of a personal nature (laundry, phone calls, etc.)
  • Any additional transportation outside of the scheduled tour activities
