Parking

30-minute parking for unloading will be available in campus parking lots and designated metered spaces adjacent to the residence halls. Please follow all campus signage.

Once belongings are unloaded please move your vehicle to an extended parking area.

Temporary Parking Locations: 30-Minute Limit

• Lot 87/93 (Ping Center)
• Lot 104 (Jefferson Hall)
• Lot 119 (Sargent Hall)
• Lots 78 & 79 (South Green Garage)
• Lots 56/57/58 (South Green Drive)
• Lots 18/19/20 (Uptown Light Green Priority Lots)
• Bromley Hall Parking Lot
• Lots 114 & 115 (James/Wilson Halls)

Meters in a variety of locations throughout campus will be designated as move-in parking with a 30-minute parking maximum to accommodate those needing close access to the residence halls. Designated move-in parking areas will be noted with signage stating: “Move-In Parking: 30-Minute Loading/Unloading".

Extended Parking Locations

• No Time Limit (Thursday, August 11 through Sunday, August 21)
• Lot 125 (Track & Field Facility – West Green)
• Lot 132 (Peden Stadium)
• Lot 133 (Walter Fieldhouse)
• Lots 51/52/53/54 (South Green)
• Lots 40/41 (East Green/Lower Seigfred)
• Lot 143 (Central Food Facility - West Green)

Parking lots on campus are labeled by color on permanent signage. Extended parking can be found in any dark green or purple lot on campus that is not specifically marked as 30-minute move-in parking.

Parking Details

In an effort to accommodate move-in needs, the dark green and purple lots on campus will be available for parking. Parking is NOT permitted in fire lanes.

While parking on the grass is not normally permitted, a special exception will be made in certain areas to accommodate a large number of vehicles moving into residence halls. Please only utilize parking within the grass in approved locations as directed by an OHIO staff member.

Athens City parking enforcement is still in effect during move-in. If you park at an off-campus meter, you will need to pay the meter.

Directions to Campus Greens

We recommend navigating with GPS until you see campus signage guiding you to residential greens and halls. 

West, Upper East, and Side Five

These halls include:

• West - Boyd, Convo, James, Ryors, Sargent, Treudley, Wilson
• Upper East - 4 University Terrace, Bryan, Voigt
• Side Five - Adams, Carr, Luchs, Sowle, Tanaka

Coming from US 33 W/ US 50 E/ OH 32 E

• Take exit for SR 682 North
• Follow the signage on campus for specific areas

Coming from US 50 West/ US 33 East

• Take exit for SR 682 North
• Follow the signage on campus for specific areas

Lower East, Front Four, and Back South

These halls include:

• Lower East -  Biddle, Bush, Gamertsfelder, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, Perkins, Read, Shively, Tiffin, Washington
• Front Four - Brown, Crawford, Mackinnon, Pickering
• Back South - Dougan, Ewing, Hoover, True, Wray

Coming from US 33 East

• Keep left when entering Athens for US 50/32 East
• Take left exit for Stimson Ave
• Use traffic circle and take N. McKinley Ave/1804 Way
• Follow the signage on campus for specific areas

Coming from US 50 West

• Take left exit for Co Rd 25/Stimson Ave
• Turn right on Co Rd 25
• Turn left on Stimson Ave
• Use traffic circle and take N. McKinley Ave/1804 Way
• Follow the signage on campus for specific areas

Coming from US 33 W/ US 50 E/ OH 32 E

• Take exit for Co Rd 25/ Stimson Ave
• Turn left on Co Rd. 25
• Continue Right on Co Rd. 25
• Turn left on Stimson Ave
• Use traffic circle and take N. McKinley Ave/1804 Way
• Follow the signage on campus for specific areas

CATS Late Night is a free on-demand transit service for students and visitors at night, providing a safe and secure method of travel across campus. Riders are encouraged to schedule rides in advance. Requests for on-demand service are also accepted. Wait times are dependent on demand.
