Late Fees and Financial Holds
Late Fees
Students will be sent an email notification with instructions to log into their MyOHIO Student Center to view their account. The account will detail charges and payments, including all applicable due dates. Balances not paid by the due date will be assessed a 1.5% late payment fee on all unpaid balances.
Financial Holds
Holds that are applied to your student account are visible in the Holds section of your MyOHIO Student Center.
Past Due Balance Holds
Tuition and fees are due by the due date indicated on your MyOHIO Student Center Charges Due. If financial responsibilities have not been met, a student will receive a financial hold on their student record. A financial hold will prevent a student from adding classes, viewing grades, or receiving a diploma.
Students who have unanticipated financial problems during a term should resolve them with the help of the Office of the Bursar and the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, as well as resources outside of Ohio University such as parents and relatives.
Loan Hold
Former students who have failed to honor the terms and conditions of either a Federal Perkins loan or a University long-term loan will have a financial hold placed on their records. A financial hold will prevent a student from adding classes, viewing grades, or receiving a diploma. Once a hold is placed on a student's record all terms and conditions must be fulfilled before the hold is removed.
Ohio Attorney General Hold
Student accounts that have been turned over to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for collection will have a financial hold placed on their record. An Ohio Attorney General hold will prevent a student from adding classes, viewing grades, or receiving a diploma. Additional information about accounts that have been placed at the Ohio Attorney General's Office can be found on the University Collections page.
Other Account Restrictive Holds
Additional account restrictive holds may be placed on a student account by other administrative offices outside of the Office of the Bursar. If there is a hold on your student account, please review the Holds section of your MyOHIO Student Center for details and contact information.
