Professional Experience
Mr. Gessells' career spans more than 30 years of business and technology experience. He started as a Business Analyst in the manufacturing industry at WearEver-ProctorSilex, moved into IT technical leadership roles in the retail industry at Circuit City's corporate offices in Richmond, VA, spent time in the IT/Management consulting industry with his own consulting business in Columbus, OH, then moved into IT executive leadership roles in the Health Care industry the past 20 years at both Cardinal Health and the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He specializes in leading large scale transformations, project & program management, and mergers & acquisitions. He is currently responsible for the Wexner Medical Center's Health Plan’s technology strategy and operations.
Mr. Gessells was a past chairperson of the College of Business MIS Advisory Board from 2007 - 2017. The MIS Advisory Board is made up of MIS executives who provide industry insight into the MIS curriculum and advises the MIS faculty of current trends and developments in the field to improve the relevance of the MIS curriculum. The MIS Advisory Board also interacts with students to provide an opportunity to meet current industry professionals, to gather feedback for the MIS faculty and to provide students with internship and post-graduation employment opportunities.
