In addition to the College of Business's accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the MAA has received programmatic accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). This program also has a partnership with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).

Coursework is delivered 100% online. However, a required three-day Athletic Leadership Forum is held on campus during the summer. This hand-on learning opportunity allows students to network with their peers, program faculty and alumni in person.
Courses in this program are led by a combination of adjunct and full-time faculty members. All program faculty have extensive experience in the sports industry, with most having worked as interscholastic athletic directors. In addition, several adjunct faculty have been directly involved in the creation of the NIAAA's Leadership Training Institute.

Athletic administrators oversee a school's entire athletic department. They are responsible for ensuring student-athletes, coaches and staff are supported and have the resources to achieve at a high level. The MAA online degree program is designed to prepare teachers, coaches and athletic professionals for a career in middle school or high school athletic administration, specifically as athletic directors. Graduates can also pursue Registered Athletic Administrator, Certified Athletic Administrator and Certified Master Athletic Administrator distinction through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
