Bio

Dr. Shalando R. Jones is a dedicated higher education professional with a passion for empowering students to excel in essential soft skills such as public speaking, interviewing, and professional writing. Jones has made it her mission to prepare learners for success in both academic and professional environments. Her research interests focus on strategic organizational crisis communication, leadership communication in global organizations, and multicultural communication. Dr. Jones’ expertise in these areas underscores her commitment to fostering effective and inclusive communication practices across various contexts. 

Dr. Jones started her career in higher education at Ivy Tech Community College as an Adjunct Instructor in Communication. She later joined Delta State University as an Instructor in Communication Studies. During her tenure at Delta State University, Dr. Jones made significant contributions, including coaching students who placed first and second in the college-wide oratorical competition, serving on the diversity committee, assisting with the coordination of an annual conference, and supporting with the development of a documentary.

Dr. Jones remains committed to influencing the next generation of leaders by equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and complex world.
