Advising Notes for Current OHIO Students Intending to Gain Admission to the College of Business
- The following five required courses (8.5 credit-hours) are to be completed in the integrated “Copeland Core” format during a student’s first term of CoB enrollment. Failure to do this could extend time to graduation beyond four years.
Copeland Core- BA 1000 (1) Introduction to the College of Business
- BA 2000 (1) Career Management
- BA 1100 (3) Introduction to Business (This is the only Copeland Core course that can be completed prior to CoB admission)
- BA 1500 (3) Introduction to Business Communication and Professionalism
- UC 1500 (.5) College of Business Learning Community Seminar
NOTE: When registering for next-semester courses, understand that if your application for CoB admission is successful, you will need to adjust your next-semester schedule after admission and prior to the first day of the term to include the “Copeland Core” courses. Scheduling information for these courses will be communicated in your OHIO e-mail from the CoB Office of Student Services within seven days of the approval of your application.
- As courses from the “Copeland Core” will be among the prerequisites for the “Business Cluster”, students will not be able to take the Business Cluster during their first semester in the College of Business.
- Courses to Take and Courses Not to Take
These two course substitutions are permitted as long as the courses are completed prior to a student’s first semester of College of Business enrollment:- BUSL 2000 = BUSL 2550
- MGT 3000 = MGT 3200
Do NOT take MGT 2000 or MKT 2020, as these course are similar (but not equivalent) to MGT 2100 and MKT 2400. - Once admitted to the College of Business, you will need to participate each semester in an assigned advising activity to get your registration hold lifted.
