All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. You will be prompted to first select the term for which you wish to apply. Then select “Graduate Degree Application.” (No letters of recommendation or GRE scores are necessary for this program.)

Admissions Requirements

No GRE or letters of recommendation are needed for this program. However, students will provide a short (not more than 500 word) personal statement briefly describing their previous experiences and explaining what they hope to accomplish in the M.S.S. program.

An applicant for admission to this program must have:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.00. Prospective students with an undergraduate GPA lower than 3.00 are still encouraged to apply and may be considered for conditional admission. Applicants should address their undergraduate GPA in their personal statement. Conditionally admitted students are expected to earn at least a 3.0 GPA and maintain it throughout the program.
  • Official Transcripts of all academic work must be submitted with the online application.
  • Personal Statement (no more than 500 words) briefly describing their previous experiences and explaining what they hope to accomplish in the M.S.S. program.
  • English Language Proficiency Requirements. All non-native English speakers must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting official test scores for either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS academic). To be considered official, test scores must be reported directly from the testing agency to Ohio University. Minimum TOEFL-iBT 104. IELTS 7.5 minimum across all bands. In addition, the individual section scores on the TOEFL should be at least 26. More information on English Proficiency.
  • A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.

 

  • Admissions Deadlines

    Students can start any semester — fall, spring or summer.

    The spring semester deadline is Dec. 15.  
    The summer session deadline is April 1.  
    The fall semester deadline is July 15.
