Gyasi Calhoun
Hometown: Shaker Heights, Ohio
Expected Graduation: Spring 2018
Gyasi initially started college at the University of Rochester playing football and studying engineering, but decided to transfer to Ohio University as a Russ Vision Scholar.
He has worked in academic records for the Russ College Office of Student Services throughout the entirety of his collegiate career. Gyasi says he has been blessed to make lifelong friends and to learn from some of the most compelling and passionate professors -- the Russ College has always made him feel like there are endless opportunities.
He was a chair member of the National Society of Black Engineers for two years as historian and was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Currently, he is a Cru at OU bible study leader and a Learning Community Leader for aviation.
In his spare time, he loves to play basketball and lift weights because they're both means of escape from the engineering life. He also enjoys watching basketball and football, and played those sports in high school. He recently started vlogging to show what life is like through his lens and because it's a great way to keep record of his life experiences.
