The Digital Enterprise Collaboratory

The Digital Enterprise Collaboratory (The DEC) is a physical-virtual site for conducting digital engineering research, education and training. The DEC supports digital transformation efforts by allowing industry, academia, and government teams to easily collaborate through a turnkey facility with access to state-of-the-art digital engineering hardware, software, and videoconferencing capabilities.

The DEC enables users to test and de-risk their digital enterprise solutions outside of their current work environment thereby removing technological and operational barriers.

There is a critical need for this capability for industry and government teams. Workforce training and software tools are also available through existing agreements with Siemens, Dassault Systemes, Ansys, MathWorks and others.

Here are some key points about the DDS:

  1. Purpose: The DEC serves as an Outside The Fence facility for exploring digital transformation solutions by enabling seamless collaboration among multiple stakeholders.
  2. Collaboration: The DEC allows defense personnel, contractors, and academic teams to work together on digital engineering projects. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and knowledge exchange.
  3. Industry Partnerships: Industry partnerships drive the DEC. Hardware and software providers support training and development activities to advance the state of the art in digital transformation efforts for both the private and public sectors. The goal is to enhance digital literacy and digital engineering capabilities to drive impactful solutions.
  4. Location: The DEC is collocated with the University of Dayton’s Digital Transformation Center at 1520 South Main Street, Dayton, Ohio. This strategic location facilitates close interaction with defense contractors and Air Force research initiatives.
  5. Tools and Resources: Within the DEC, teams have access to state-of-the-art digital engineering tools as well as virtual/augmented reality tools and equipment. These resources empower them to explore, design, and innovate in the digital realm.
