Growing up, I lived in a very small town in Ohio called Malvern. From a young age I was introduced to design through my mom’s passion for it. I always rearranged my room as a child and would redesign spaces in my head when I entered them, this led me to study interior design. Through my college career, I was able to pursue a minor in Studio Art while majoring in Interior Architecture. After graduating, I plan on working at a residential firm to gain experience as I begin my career. Through witnessing people around me struggle with dementia and the impact it had on their daily life, I dedicated my research towards memory care for adults with dementia or other cognitive diseases. With this, I created a living facility that caters to adults living with cognitive diseases. The design goal was to give them a variety of spaces to keep the users engaged and active. This environment includes a fitness area, beauty salon, activity center and more. A facility like this is important because it provides a restorative and soothing environment that will ease the effects of cognitive diseases.
