Rachel Fullmer is an Interior Architecture student at Ohio University and a design intern at Knickerbocker Group in Boothbay, Maine. Rachel recalls being first interested in interiors at a young age, with one of her childhood dreams being an interior decorator. As that dream lay dormant for several years, it was rekindled by the many Boston visits with her family, where she was enamored with the mix of old and new architecture in the city. The final deciding factor to pursue Interior Architecture was realizing that the field married Rachel’s two primary interests: art and people. Passionate about wellness and access to good design, Rachel believes that good design should not be a privilege but a right, and that ideally, designs should be treated as a work of art.

Rachel’s senior thesis is HER Health, “HER” standing for “Health Equality Resources”. After recognizing the need for comprehensive women’s healthcare and the current lack of holistic and trauma-informed care, Rachel created HER Health. HER Health is a women’s health clinic performing on a trauma-informed model of care and emphasizing natural means of healing. When a woman comes to HER Health, she knows she will be listened to and treated with unique consideration, kindness, and empowerment, which is reflected in the design.
