Need-Based Financial Assistance
In 1986, the Advisory Board of the Athens Community Music School established a Need-Based Scholarship Fund (now known as “Financial Assistance”) through the Ohio University Foundation, the University’s institutionally-related, nonprofit, tax exempt, 501 (c) (3) organization. Since then, money has been raised to support music lessons at the Athens Community Music School for financially disadvantaged families in Southeast Ohio.
All information is strictly confidential. Financial assistance is awarded based on money available, number of applicants, and applicant need. We endeavor to award as much as possible within these criteria. All students are eligible to apply. The financial assistance awarded is deducted from the total tuition charges. In recent years, over $6000 was awarded.
The Need-Based Financial Assistance Application requires that families provide documented proof of annual family income (e.g., inclusion of the previous year's 1040 Tax Form or other proof if you do not file taxes). If you wish to be considered for financial assistance, please select, "Yes, I would like to apply for financial assistance," on your online registration form and send a 50% payment via check or money order for the lessons, group classes, or ensemble in which you would like to enroll. All applications will be reviewed, and you will then be informed by the ACMS Director of any additional cost you may owe.
Registering is easy!
Step 1: Complete the online registration information*.
Step 2: Submit your payment (either online or by check).
Upon receiving the completed form and payment, ACMS will send you an email confirmation with instructor contact information.
Refunds are not given for lessons not received except in extenuating circumstances.
