My name is Avery Berman and I am from Los Angeles, California. My interest in design first developed when I began thinking about my future career. Eventually, there was a realization that I wanted to work in a field that was evenly balanced between creativity and practicality, and I finally found that design fit that description perfectly. This led me to Ohio University to pursue a career in hospitality design. My thesis topic is a single parent support center. Designing a center that offers daycare and overnight care will help the children of these households to develop their social, emotional, and intellectual skills. This will not only benefit the children of single parents, but the adults navigating parenthood as well by providing a supportive community with numerous resources and opportunities.
