Art History Minor

Art History Minor

The Art History minor is designed for undergraduate students who wish to explore the history, criticism, and theory of art alongside their primary field of study. Through a diverse selection of courses, students will gain insight into artistic traditions from around the world, spanning ancient civilizations to contemporary movements. This minor provides a strong foundation in visual analysis, cultural context, and historical interpretation.

Admission Requirements

To declare an Art History minor, students should consult with their primary advisor and then submit the "Application for Update of Academic Program" form to their College. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required for admission. A minimum 2.75 GPA in the minor must be maintained.

Curriculum

The Art History minor requires a minimum of 23 hours. Through these courses, you will explore a broad range of artistic traditions, from ancient civilizations to contemporary movements. You will develop critical analysis skills and a deep understanding of how art shapes and reflects cultures across history.
