At Ohio University assessment is a collection of activities designed to help students succeed, therefore program outcomes assessment is about documenting student success. Program outcomes assessment is a tool to help faculty and staff enable Ohio University to achieve this mission.

All academic programs at Ohio University are reviewed periodically to help identify program, college, and university priorities, goals, and accomplishments, and help measure the progress of ongoing initiatives. Program review is part of an overall assessment plan that provides a portrait of program strengths and limitations and should result in program improvement.

Perpetuating a culture of continuous improvement and organizational renewal, Ohio University’s Administrative and Support Services Unit Review process assures that all administrative, support, co-curricular and athletic programs engage in systematic and integrated program planning, evaluation, and improvement to provide continuing value to the University community.

Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics carries out ongoing student success assessments (institutional surveys) in which longitudinal results are available for each college and academic department. Some institutional surveys also provide external benchmark comparisons with national and peer groups.
