Science Café to discuss "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Expanding Universe" with Dr. Hee-Jong Seo on Nov. 15
Ohio University's next Science Café will feature Dr. Hee-Jong Seo and provide insight into "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Expanding Universe" on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m. in the Front Room Coffeehouse on the fourth floor of Baker University Center.
Free coffee will be available for the first 50 in-person attendees. The event will also be live-streamed via YouTube for those unable to attend in person.
A discussion of our expanding universe
According to Seo’s research, our universe has been expanding at an accelerated rate. During her Science Café presentation, Seo will present what we know, and do not know, about this phenomenon.
She will also share how astrophysicists, as part of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Survey (DESI) collaboration, plan to conduct further research using a three-dimensional map of the Universe made with 35 million galaxy positions – all the way back 12 billion years ago.
Dr. Hee-Jong Seo is an associate professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy within OHIO’s College of Arts and Sciences. She is also a member of the Astrophysical Institute and DESI.
