New and returning Bobcats: Make sure you follow these steps to activate your OHIO online services before you arrive for the academic year.

Bringing a personal computer or portable device to campus? After you connect to our wireless, follow these steps to make sure you stay connected.

  1. Connect with OIT
  2. Connect to eduroam
    • Bobcats can join the "eduroam" campus WIFI network rather than the "Guest" WIFI network - it is significantly faster and meant for instruction. To login to eduroam, use your OHIO email address and password
  3. Free Office 365
    • As a Bobcat, you are eligible to install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for free on up to 5 personal devices. Versions are available for mobile devices, too!  All computers on the OHIO Chillicothe campus have Microsoft Office installed, so only install your copies on your personal devices.
    • Install your free copy of Office 365 ProPlus
    • Log in to the web version of Catmail (catmail.ohio.edu (opens in a new window)), look to the upper left corner of the browser window (To the left of the green bar with a OHIO University logo), and click on the "App Launcher" in the "Nav Bar" -  (9 dots).
    • Select "Install Office"
    • The download and install should start.  Let it run and restart your computer after the installation completes
  4. Test your Catmail account
    • Have a friend or family member send an email to your ohio.edu email address, or send an email to yourself from your personal email account
    • Login to Catmail account (catmail.ohio.edu (opens in a new window)) and confirm that the message arrived "OK"
    • If the message did not arrive, make sure you're not forwarding your mail:
  5. Activate your OneDrive file storage
    • OHIO also offers free access to Microsoft's Microsoft OneDrive. OneDrive integrates nicely with Microsoft Office has many collaboration features.  If accessing on a public computer, be sure to log  out of one drive when you are finished
  6. Get set up to print on campus
  7. Disable illegal music-sharing software
    • Illegal downloading or sharing of copyrighted files is not allowed on our network. Please disable any illegal file-sharing software before you connect to the OHIO wireless or wired network.
    • You are welcome to use legal services like Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Prime, etc. on our network using your personal laptop or portable device. Just avoid installing the software on university computers and illegal peer-to-peer sharing.
