WOUB to host panel on 'fracking frenzy'


Hydraulic fracturing (known as fracking) will be the focus of a program on WOUB's "Newswatch In-Depth: Fracking Frenzy," airing Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. The panel discussion has been scheduled in conjunction with a multimedia project involving WOUB, The Athens NEWS and The Marietta Times, to shine a spotlight on the regional fracking issue. Much of the fracking-related content has been congregated on a mobile website that can be accessed with the "flare code" appearing on this page. The site was built with help from an OU student-developed company, Flare Code.

Flare Code to make an appearance in Ohio University's newspaper this week


QR codes are coming to the Ohio University's student run newspaper, The Post. These codes are not the kind that people are becoming familiar with, however. The codes that will show up in The Post this week are Flare Codes. These custom QR codes come from a student-owned company by the same name. Flare Code seeks to conglomerate digital content into a single social network based entirely on QR codes.

Beginning Wednesday, January 18, readers of Ohio University's student newspaper, The Post, will find a custom QR code called a Flare Code. Viewers of WOUB-TV will soon see Flare Codes incorporated into the evening news program "Newswatch" and online at woub.org.
