University Receives $1.4 Microscope That Will Advance Energy, Electronics Research


Ohio University has received $1.4 million in federal and state funding to purchase a transmission electron microscope that will allow scientists and engineers to study new materials that could have applications in energy, alternative fuels, superconductors, and environmental remediation.

Realty firm installs 'largest (private) solar installation' in Athens


Athens-based Dovetail Solar and Wind installed the 18.7kw photovoltaic roof-mounted solar array on the 280 E State St. building, which houses Larry Conrath Realty and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Ecolibrium, a rapidly new company founded in Athens by mechanical engineer and inventor Brian Wildes, provided the flat-roof mounting system for the solar panels.
