FAQ:

Q) Do I still need to take ITS 4020 if I took one of the following classes?
ECON 3050, Managerial Economics.
ECON 3080, Behavioral Economics.
ECON 3200, Labor Economics.
ECON 3220, Economics of Human Resources.
ECON 3340, Economics of Antitrust.
ECON 3400, International Trade.
ECON 3710, Cost Benefit Analysis.

A) No, you do not need to take ITS 4020. If your DARS still indicates you need ITS 4020, your advisor needs to file a DARS exception form to show that you do not need ITS 4020.

Q) If I took one of the ECON classes (shown above) to replace ITS 4020, can I take ITS 4020 as an elective class?
A) Yes, you can take ITS 4020 and it will count as an ITS elective. Your advisor will need to fill out a DARS exception form so that ITS 4020 appears on your DARS as an ITS elective.

Q) My DARS indicates I need to take ITS 3019, but this class is not offered. What should I do?

A) With your approval, your advisor will need to switch you to the 2019-2020 entry catalog. This will remove the ITS 3019 requirement but will add one more class to your Area of Concentration (AoC), for a total of 5 AoC classes.
Also, If you took COMS 3200 in the past this class replaced ITS 3019. This is not the case anymore. If your DARS is not showing ITS 3019 completed, your advisor needs to complete a DARS exception form.

Q) How do I declare my Area of Concentration?
A) Please use the form available on our website, also accessible through this link (opens in a new window). Ask your advisor for instructions on how to fill out the form and email it to your advisor. Your advisor will forward the form to the school director for processing.

Q) How do I add the Business minor to my DARS?
A) Please fill out the online form available from the Scripps College Dean's office, also available through this link (opens in a new window).

Q) I have a general question, who should I ask for help?

A) You can ask the undergraduate director Dr. Charles Linscott (linscoc2@ohio.edu), your advisor or the program director (arauz@ohio.edu). We are all happy to help you.

You can also use our Discord server:

  • Use this invitation link to join: https://discord.gg/RhGbcRe
  • Send e-mail to any faculty member, let us know your name in Discord, and we will add you
  • The Advising channel is the place to ask questions.

Connect with your advisor

Please check your e-mail frequently. Every advisor will reach out and give you a way to register for an advising time and let you know how you will connect, e.g., by phone or teleconference.

About ITS 3019

Does your DARS tell you to take ITS 3019 but you cannot find that class? This happens because the catalog in force when you joined ITS required you to take ITS 3020. We renamed that class to ITS 3019 and now consider a (rarely taught) elective. Ask your advisor to change your "Major Catalog of Entry" to the current version (2019/2020) - that will replace ITS 3019 with an additional area of concentration class.
