Patty Mitchell (opens in a new window) is an artist and social entrepreneur specializing in collaborations between artists with and without developmental differences. Her expertise is shifting sheltered workshops/day programs into collaborative making spaces and designing employment opportunities through the interests and abilities of the workers. Mitchell founded Passion Works Studio (opens in a new window) in Athens (1998). With Susan Dlouhy, she co-authored Upcycling Sheltered Workshops: A Revolutionary Approach to Transforming Workshops into Creative Spaces (opens in a new window) (Swallow Hills press) and several articles in Health Communication.
