Economics Major B.A.

Economics Major B.A.

Students pursuing an Economics B.A. degree develop core quantitative and critical thinking skills that enable them to analyze social and economic issues.

Economists study decision-making and incentives facing individuals, businesses, governments and countries. One of the strengths of the program is its flexibility: students can choose from a wide range of economics electives to tailor their studies to their interests, whether that’s environmental economics, international trade, labor markets, or social issues.

Careers with an Economics Degree

Economists work in a variety of jobs in the private sector, the education sector, the non-profit sector, and government agencies. Entry-level positions for economists with a bachelor’s degree include market analysts, consultants, research assistants, data analysts, investment bankers, forecasters, journalists, as well as managers, analysts and leaders in business, banking, government, and non-profit and international organizations.

The Bachelor of Arts degree prepares students for continued graduate education in economics, mathematics, law school, journalism, international affairs, and public policy. Master’s and Ph.D. degrees prepare economists for jobs requiring more quantitative and analytical skills.
