The division employs 181 administrative staff, 212 classified staff, 65 graduate students and 3,748 undergraduate students for a total of 4,206 employees. More than 60 graduate assistantships are housed in DOSA, each offering financial support and professional work experience to students enrolled in post-professional programs.
The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) Strategic Plan was established in July 2018, and implementation began right away. The plan resulted in new mission and vision statements and breakthrough objectives in the areas of Equity and Social Justice, Learning Goals and Retention and Graduation.
More than 20 DOSA staff delivered 21 different presentations at 17 regional or national conferences across the country this year. Additionally, DOSA hosted socials for OHIO alumni and friends at annual professional association conferences including NIRSA, OCPA and NASPA.
All new division staff members were required to attend a day-long social justice training, and all current DOSA staff complete an annual social justice in-service opportunity or training.
The Equity and Social Justice committee developed an agreed-upon definition of social justice, created job posting and position description language and updated and disseminated a new professional development form. The Learning Goals committee collaborated with the University Curriculum Council (UCC) to revise division terminology and conducted an audit to get baseline data for how students are currently being engaged. The Retention and Graduation committee examined best practices in Student Affairs literature and research, defined “sense of belonging” and created and administered a program audit.
Student Affairs is making progress toward Presidential Strategic Pathways and Priorities.
