Society For Human Resource Management

Student Chapter

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapters hold regularly scheduled meetings to help members learn more about business and the HR field. They are run by elected student officers with the assistance of a chapter advisor and SHRM professional members. Beyond regular meetings, chapters organize a variety of activities including:

  • Company tours

  • Student conferences

  • Professional development workshops

  • Internship programs

  • Social events

  • Networking with SHRM professional chapter members

Each of these activities helps students build relationships with other local professionals and students while learning about human resource management and positioning themselves for success upon graduation. Follow us on social media for details on our bi-weekly meetings.

While at Ohio University I developed a passion for many different things. However, it all started with Human resources. As a first-year student, I wanted to be in HR to help others and still work in business. I joined SHRM and later became a member of the Executive Board. Taking business/ human resource classes has opened my mind to new things and inspired me to double major in IT. Being a part of SHRM has allowed me to gain everlasting relationships with my peers and those who aspire to become a member of such a great organization. I have had two internships, many networking experiences, and a chance to speak in front of crowds. SHRM & HRC will forever be special to me.
