- Accredited by American Chemical Society
Major code BS3315
Faculty Contact: Dr. Lauren McMills, director of general chemistry
Program Overview
The B.S. degree program in environmental chemistry is chosen by students planning to enter a graduate program in chemistry with an emphasis in the environment or work in a chemistry related field. The B.S. degree is accredited by the American Chemical Society.
Careers and Graduate School
A large number of our graduates go on to take advanced degrees in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. Graduates of the programs are employed in environmental, pharmaceutical and other chemical companies throughout the country. Jobs held by recent graduates include applications lab technician, attorney, associate chemist, auditor, chemist, research and discovery chemist, chemistry and physics teacher, criminalist, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, drug analyst, environmental engineer, pharmacist, physician, QA process chemist, and technology transfer manager.
Upon completing the requirements for the B.S. degree with a major in chemistry, students are eligible for professional status in the American Chemical Society. Completion of a B.A. degree in chemistry does not qualify students for certification.
