2024-2025 Community Engagement Grant

The purpose of this small grant is to encourage a College of Health Sciences and Professions service-learning class or student organization to provide service to the local community while benefiting personally from service-learning activities.

Eligibility: A College of Health Sciences and Professions service-learning class or a student organization is eligible to apply (during fall and spring).

Endorsement: A College of Health Sciences and Professions (CHSP) faculty advisor must endorse and supervise your activities. An email will automatically be sent to your advisor after you submit an application through this portal.

Number of grants: Grants will be funded as long as money is available. Only one (1) community engagement grant of up to $300 (not to exceed actual costs) will be given per class or specific class student organization per academic year.

Award period:  AY 2024-2025

2024-2025 Leite Engagement Award

 The Leite Engagement Award for Community & Clinical Partners has been created to honor the legacy of commitment to community engagement that Dean Randy Leite cultivated and nurtured throughout his tenure with the Ohio University College of Health Sciences & Professions. This award will be given annually to a community partner (either organizational or individual) who exemplifies the true spirit of collaboration and mutually beneficial partnerships between the college and the community. Nominated by students, faculty, and staff; worthy recipients collaborating around service, volunteerism, and/or Interprofessional experiences will emulate a commitment to education, transformative outcomes, and meaningful impact.

 Eligibility

Any community or clinical placement partner (individual or organization) that emulates the true spirit of collaboration and mutually beneficial partnerships between the College of Health Sciences & Professions and the community. This person/organization should show a high level of commitment to impactful engagement opportunities through service, volunteerism, and/or Interprofessional experiences. Recipients of this award should show a strong commitment to any/all of the following:

 • Student, college, and community impact
 • Community and health improvement initiatives and projects
 • Reciprocally beneficial university/community collaborations
 • Mutually beneficial learning and impact outcomes
 • Engagement with underserved populations Criteria for Selection
 • Nominated by student and/or faculty/staff
 • Length of partnership
 • Impact of the project/person/organizations
 • Number of people included and/or impacted
 • Evidence of a transformative experience
