Dance — Performance and Choreography Minor

The Dance - Performance and Choreography minor provides students majoring in other disciplines with the opportunity to develop technical dance skills, creative expression, and a deeper understanding of dance as an art form. Students gain hands-on experience in performance, choreography, and production while exploring the historical and cultural contexts of dance. This minor can also serve as a pathway into the dance major sequence.

Admission Requirements

Freshman/First-Year Admission

Students must complete an application and either pass a dance major audition or receive faculty recommendation upon successful completion of a non-major dance technique course.

Change of Program Policy

Admission to the minor is by audition and application. Students must complete the College of Fine Arts Application for Update of Academic Program form online.

Curriculum

The Dance - Performance and Choreography minor requires a minimum of 18 credit hours. Coursework includes foundational dance techniques, composition, dance production, and electives that allow students to deepen their technical and creative practice.

Career Opportunities

This minor enhances kinesthetic awareness, performance skills, and creative problem-solving — valuable assets in careers such as education, communication, journalism, social work, physical therapy, acting, and event production.
