Kickstart the school year with University Libraries’ annual Camp Alden

Ohio University Libraries’ annual Welcome Week event, Camp Alden, will be occurring once more on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Activities will be free of charge and held outside Alden Library's fourth floor at Wolfe Garden as well as through all seven floors with the traditional scavenger hunt.

A button making station, s’mores, cornhole, mini golf, Dug the therapy dog and the Athens County Public Library book mobile will be just a few of the various activities that will be present. Prizes such as a backpack flashlight reflector and paracord bracelets attached to a compass and whistle will be given out to those who complete the ever-popular scavenger hunt.
 

This year will be Jen Harvey’s, the Libraries’ events coordinator, fourth Camp Alden since it began in 2019. The event is Harvey’s favorite one that the University Libraries holds.

“I'm really excited about it [Camp Alden],” Harvey said. “I love seeing our first-year students come in and learn about the [Alden] Library, and every year we will have a few seniors who come in and learn something new … which I also love. Everybody has a good time.”

In the chance of inclement weather, the event will take place on the fourth floor of Alden Library in the Class of 1951 Lounge.
