University Libraries welcomes students back to campus with another successful Camp Alden
Ohio University Libraries was thrilled to have students back on campus and in person for events to kick off the 2022-23 academic year. University Libraries hosted its annual Camp Alden event on Thursday, Aug. 25 outside of Alden Library’s fourth floor. Activities such as button making, cooking s’mores and a scavenger hunt to learn about the seven floors of the Library were all a big hit.
Peyton Hodge, a freshman studying journalism and psychology, puts the finishing touch on her button she had made by hand. Button making is a staple of the Camp Alden event and a fan favorite for new and old students alike.
Sonali Jha, a first year Ph.D. student studying journalism, cuts a design for her button out of a magazine at Camp Alden. Students were able to cut out their desired design from an array of magazines before assembling their own buttons by hand.
Kezia Nanda, a Ph.D. student studying journalism, shows off the buttons she had made at the button making station outside of Alden’s fourth floor.
Amar Thompson, a freshman, completes a task on the seventh floor of Alden during the annual scavenger hunt. Participants were challenged to explore the Library to collect stickers based on the scavenger hunt map provided. The popular activity is curated to help new and old students alike learn about all that Alden Library has to offer.
Ari Black, a freshman studying English, and Tamryn Collins, a freshman studying animation, assist their friend with assembling her s’more. A charcoal grill and s’more supplies were provided for students to make the sweet treat outside the fourth floor of Alden.
