Cell Phone Use
In order to respect the rights of library users and to promote an environment appropriate for reading, research, and study, we limit the spaces for acceptable telephone conversations in Alden Library.
- Cell phones may be used only in elevator lobbies, in entry areas on the 2nd and 4th floors, in the 3rd floor display area, in the Cafe Bibliotech, and in group study rooms. Telephone conversations occurring in these areas should be conducted in a quiet voice and should be extremely limited in duration.
- Cell phones carried into other areas of the library should be turned off or set to a silent mode. Users who receive calls in these areas should move outside the library or to a space as described above before beginning conversations.
