We begin Week Five with fewer restrictions in Ohio. As our opportunities to interact with one another increase, we must not let our guard down.
As we move past the holiday surge, COVID-19 case numbers have declined nationally and in the state. Unfortunately, our numbers on the Athens campus continue to increase.
As we head into week three of the semester, COVID-19 case rates are declining in the state but are increasing on our campuses, most particularly in Athens.
As we start week two of Spring Semester, COVID case rates have been declining in the state. Case rates in each of the counties with an OHIO campus have fluctuated but largely have remained high.
As we begin to make plans to address our most recent budget assumptions, we are committed to communicating regularly with you and providing opportunities for you to share input and ideas.
As you know, the power outage that started last Friday afternoon was widespread, including the Athens campus and many of the communities surrounding our regional campuses.

As you prepare for spring semester, we wanted to provide reminders and updates.
As we prepare to return to campus, I would like to update you on the state of COVID-19 in Ohio, review our testing protocols, and share an update on vaccine rollout in Ohio.
On Dec. 11, the United States recorded more new COVID-19 cases on a single day (244,011) than on any other day during the pandemic.
It is important to take stock of the current state of the pandemic, to stay informed about how COVID-19 may affect Spring Semester, and to work together to keep everyone safe through the holidays.
Over the last week, cases have continued to rise and all counties hosting an OHIO campus are now ranked “red” on the Ohio Public Health Advisory System (except Franklin, which remains purple).
As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, the state COVID-19 numbers are increasingly alarming.
It’s hard to believe that despite its many challenges, this year has passed so quickly, and we are nearing the end of the fall semester.
