Roderick McDavis, Reflection
I remember very fondly my trip to Chubu University in November 2014 during my tenure as President of Ohio University. While the primary purpose of trip was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chubu University and to renew the partnership agreements between Chubu University and Ohio University, the best part of trip for me was the opportunity to meet and vist with the wonderful faculty, staff, students, and administrators at Chubu University.
I remember the tour that our delegation took of the beautiful Chubu University campus. The campus reminded me in so many ways of the Ohio Univesity campus. I was especially reminded of the Ohio University campus when I saw the replica of the Cutler Hall cupola located in a prominent place on the Chubu University campus. It was a very emotional moment! That's one of the lasting memories that I will always have of Chubu University!
The faculty, staff, students, and administrators that we spent time with at Chubu University were among the friendliest people I had met in my life. They expressed much joy and happiness about the partnership between Chubu University and Ohio University. Many of the people we met, especially the students, were looking forward to visting the Ohio University campus in the years ahead. We encouraged all of the students we met to come to Athens and visit Ohio University. The social events that took place during the visit provided us with an opportunity to get to know the people of Chubu University better. I came away from the social events with a much better understanding of and deeper appreciation for the people and culture at Chubu University. I was most impressed with all that I learned about Chubu University and it's people during my visit! I will always cherish the memories of my visit to Chubu University! It was truly one of the most memorable trips that I had the pleasure of taking during my tenure as President of Ohio University!
