What do you do? Equinix is the world’s largest IBX data center & colocation provider. As a sales engineer, I work specifically with Microsoft & Amazon to fulfill their colocation and interconnection needs.
What made you come to Ohio University? I chose Ohio University because of the ITS program that was available and the scholarship money that they awarded me via the OMSAR office.
Were there other places you considered? Any metros? What made this rural location more attractive? I applied to seven schools and got into all of them. My main interest was the University of Miami in Florida. But a friend told me about Ohio University and the ITS program. I looked into it and saw that it was a continuation of what I was currently learning in high school. (I was enrolled in a Cisco Networking Academy.) It was because of the ITS program and scholarship money that I decided to become a Bobcat well before I even visited. Upon visiting, that is when I fell in love with the beautiful campus that I miss every day.
What about your experiences here was so memorable? I was very involved with my school and Scripps at large. The knowledgeable but approachable professors, the friendly staff and the energized students made it a memorable four years. Helping to organize and plan my school’s ITS Day will probably go down as one of the most difficult but rewarding things I have done for my school.
If you could spend just one more day in classes or focus on one more skill at Scripps, what class would you attend or skill would you learn and why? If I could spend one more day in class, I would spend that day in Phil Campbell's Cryptography class. To me, he was the epitome of the firm but laidback professor that knew a good joke and the value of relating what he was teaching to the real world. He will forever have my respect, along with the other professors and staff of the J. Warren McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems.
