Online Master's in Curriculum & Instruction Curriculum

The program was designed to be completed in four semesters. An alternative sequence allows Patton College of Education Teaching Fellows to complete the program in three semesters. However, as with any master's program, you have six years to finish. You can begin the program in the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms.  Before you complete your first semester of study please complete your Program of Study Form with your advisor.

Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 30 credit hours is required. Credits earned in an Endorsement completed at Ohio University will contribute, by course substitution, to minimum credits required for the degree.

Core Courses

Complete the following courses:

  • EDTE 5100 - Principles of Curriculum
  • EDTE 5600 - Advanced Studies of Children and Adolescents
  • EDTE 6170 - Introduction to Teaching Portfolio
  • EDTE 6670 - Teacher as Action Researcher
  • EDTE 6940 - Master Research Project

Elective Courses

Complete a minimum of 15 hours from among the following courses:

  • EDCT 5011 - Technological Applications in Education - Open Source Tools for Education
  • EDTE 5210 - Foundation of Language and Diversity
  • EDTE 6900 - Special Topics in Education - Teacher Education
  • EDTE 6930 - Research in Education
  • EDSP 6720 - Advanced Differentiated/ Instructional Adaptations
  • Other courses may be substituted or added upon approval by the academic advisor

Culminating Experience

Students must complete a capstone master’s research project. This degree does not require a thesis or comprehensive exam.
