Our Mission

In collaboration with Community Health Programs staff and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine physicians, Heritage College students strive to provide exceptional, non-emergent, no-cost health care to medically underserved individuals.

The Care Clinic Organization is dedicated to serving the medically underserved by providing high-quality, no-cost healthcare to individuals aged 18-64 once a month year-round. Our mission encompasses the operation of the OU-HCOM Care Clinic with a focus on treating common medical and behavioral conditions, offering exercise and dietary education, and fostering an educational environment for medical students. We are committed to enhancing community health outcomes by treating and learning from our patients under the expert guidance of OUHCOM's volunteer physician faculty. This approach not only provides our students with invaluable clinical experience but also instills a deep understanding of the importance of serving underserved populations.

Through community engagement and adherence to comprehensive healthcare policies, we commit to excellence in service and education, aligning our efforts with the principles of Ohio University and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The Care Clinic Student Organization provides first- and second-year medical students with an equal opportunity to volunteer within the OU-HCOM Care Clinic and provides adequate orientation materials. The care clinic's learning process allows ample opportunities for students to receive feedback, ask questions, and learn about patient care. We support the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine by providing hands-on learning experiences for medical students, fostering their understanding of patient care and community service.

Our commitment to the osteopathic profession is demonstrated through our dedication to comprehensive, compassionate care and the promotion of health education under the guidance of our faculty clinicians. In terms of philanthropy, we actively engage in community outreach through educational events, health awareness campaigns, and volunteering opportunities, aiming to increase accessibility to healthcare and improve overall community wellbeing.
