Our Mission

The Medical Spanish Club is dedicated to enhancing Spanish conversation skills and medical vocabulary, fostering effective communication with Spanish-speaking patients, and raising awareness of health disparities affecting the Latine/Hispanic community in the United States and globally. Our mission includes collaborating with medical interpreters, organizing activities to improve Spanish proficiency and cultural competency, and hosting philanthropic events to support health organizations serving Latine/Hispanic communities. Through these efforts, we aim to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps in healthcare, promoting equitable and compassionate care for all.

Services Provided

This organization strives to enhance our members' ability to engage effectively with Spanish-speaking populations in medical settings. Considering the significant (and increasing) number of Spanish speakers in the United States, we believe that equipping future osteopathic physicians with strong Spanish language skills will improve community health by providing better service to these underserved populations.

Tentative Schedule for 2024-2025

As an organization, we meet 6-8 times each semester to host guest speakers and engage in various group activities, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities. During these meetings, we focus on developing conversation and clinical skills, and we discuss relevant programs and opportunities available to us as medical students interested in furthering our Spanish studies.
