Our Mission

The purpose of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Club is to educate and expose medical students to the field and practice of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The objectives of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Club are for its members to acquire a better understanding of the skills, practices, and knowledge required to be a successful physiatrist; to gain valuable hands-on experience with procedures specific to PM&R; learn about the diverse multidisciplinary team required for successful rehabilitation.

Services Provided

The club aims to educate medical students about the field of PM&R. This involves providing information about the skills, practices, and knowledge required to be a successful physiatrist. There will be educational sessions, case studies, and discussions led by experienced physiatrists. Members of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Club will have the unique opportunity for one-on-one exposure to ultrasound techniques guided by experienced physiatrists. This hands-on experience aims to deepen members' understanding of the practical applications of ultrasound in the field of PM&R, providing valuable skills and insights for their future careers.

 

Tentative Schedule for 2023-2024

The first event will include an introduction to PM&R. Physiatrists will be available to address any questions students may have about the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and to provide valuable insight into the lifestyle and day-to-day experiences of physiatrists. This club will also have an introduction to Ultrasound in PM&R where students will work with a physiatrist who will demonstrate and guide students through basic ultrasound techniques. There will be another event where students will have an introduction to Clinical Skills in PM&R guided by a Physiatrist. They will give an overview of essential skills such as joint injections, muscle testing, gait analysis, etc.
