Our Mission

 The purpose of this organization shall be:
   Section 1: To connect undergraduate students at local Northeast Ohio schools who intend to go
   into medicine with medical students from OU-HCOM who will act as a mentor for the student.
   Section 2: To provide opportunities for local undergraduate students to learn about the
   osteopathic medical profession.
   Section 3: To provide professional development and serve as an informational resource for

Services Provided                   

  •    Every December, we assign medical mentors to a premedical mentee(s) at local colleges/universities.
  •    PreDOC (Pre-Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Community) - a statewide student organization for all prospective medical students. Medical Mentors will plan and host 3 in-person programs and 5 virtual programs annually.
  •    Service Saturdays - opportunities for mentors and mentees to volunteer together within the Northeast Ohio community.
  •    Opportunities for current HCOM students to network with upperclassmen, faculty/staff, and alumni.
  •    Assist Office of Admissions with visit days, interview days, and more.

Tentative Schedule for 2024-2025

  •    September - Clinical Rotations Panel (for OMS-II's)
  •    December - Approaching Acute Semester Panel (for OMS-I's)
  •    January - 4th Year Panel (for OMS-III's)
  •    March - Alumni Specialties Series (for OMS-I's)
  •    In-person PreDOC programs - October, March, and May
  •    Virtual PreDOC programs - September, November, January, February, April
  •    Service Saturdays - two Saturdays in the fall, two Saturdays in the spring
