New Courses Available in HR Operations Certificate

Professional Development Pathways (PDP) provides tools, guidance, and learning opportunities for employees and supervisors who want to invest in talent development and career growth. The following courses are new professional development opportunities available within the PDP HR Operations certificate:

Leaves of Absence

This course provides an overview of various leaves of absence and the process to request, obtain approval for, and administer leaves in a compliant manner in accordance with Ohio University Policies.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify what leaves are available for faculty and staff.
  • Identify the provisions afforded for each leave.
  • Locate policies, resources, and point of contact to manage each type of leave.  

Payroll & Timekeeping

This 2-part course covers the rules and regulations laid out by the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as the basics of how to use Workforce to manage employee timesheets.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify how FLSA regulations affect payroll and compensation within OHIO University.
  • Understand how to use Workforce to enter timesheet information promptly and accurately.

These courses are e-learning courses, available to university staff and faculty.  To register for PDP courses, go to the Courses page on the OHIO Professional Development Pathways website and click the “Register” link for the desired course.
