Making a difference in our community

Public service is part of our mission, and the Heritage College, Cleveland, focuses on community outreach efforts primarily in northeast Ohio. Through involvement in these efforts, Cleveland campus students, faculty and staff have many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families living in our local communities.

Medical Student for a Day

Through collaboration and coordination with the Cleveland-based student members and advisors of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), northeast Ohio higher education institutions are invited annually to participate in a half-day session focused on the introduction and exploration of the osteopathic medical student-learning environment of the Heritage College, Cleveland. Students participate in a variety of clinical training stations interwoven by a developed patient case study, as facilitated by several Heritage College students. Participants are able to develop their understanding of medical education, career exploration and the principles of osteopathic medicine through the interactive experiences. For more information, please contact SNMA leadership.

Trunk-or-Treat

Sending children door-to-door for trick-or-treating can be a nerve-wracking experience for parents. The Pediatrics Club of Cleveland annually hosts an alternative Halloween event called Trunk-or-Treat. In conjunction with Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital and community organizations, volunteers decorate their vehicle trunks and hand out candy, books and even warm gloves for the winter. It’s a spooktastic and safe event for the children of Warrensville Heights. For more information, please visit the Pediatrics website.
