The Diabetes Institute provides support to patient care services through programs and clinical services. Direct patient care is delivered through the Heritage Community Clinic as well as the Ohio Health Physician Group Heritage College (OPGHC) Diabetes and Endocrinology Center

Diabetes Fellowship

The fellowship is a one year, add-on training program beyond residency in which the fellows provide direct patient care at the OPGHC Diabetes and Endocrinology Center as well as engage in research and academic endeavors. The program is one of only five in the country; these programs are working in partnership toward Diabetology becoming its own accredited specialty.

  • Free Clinic


    The Diabetes Free Clinic located in the Heritage Community Clinic offers diabetes care to qualifying adults in Athens, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties. Volunteer providers include physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, and nurse educators who specialize in diabetes care.

    The Rising Suns Pharmacy offers high quality pharmacy services that optimize the health and well-being of all members of the Southeastern Ohio community. Volunteer providers assist this nonprofit pharmacy in providing affordable medications to community members who are uninsured or have limited resources.
